David Tennant Doctor Who TARDIS

It is a sad time for Dr. Who fans as David Tennant has decided not to carry on as the tenth Doctor. This has nothing to do with videogames, but I’m waiting for the stores to open up so I can go pick up Darksiders. In the meantime I have the keyboard and you will endure every word I have to type.

I’m not a huge fucking Dr. Who nerd. I remember watching the series back in the eighties when I was a child, and being pretty much confused about the whole thing. I was a goddamned kid, and Timelords and men in scarves and Daleks were kinda beyond my ability to count along with Sesame Street. I lost track of that show, but one thing always stuck in my mind. The theme music.

In 2005, the series was revived as Christopher Eccleston (you may know him as Destro) rescues the cute Rose (Billie “Sexy” Piper) and hilarity ensues. Ecclestons time on the show only lasted a season, which was pretty good. He was a more dark and methodical Doctor and I’m sure helped bring a new audience to one of, if not the,  longest running sci fi series in history.

The history of the show itself is very intensive. The wiki is huge and if you can sit through it all, you are more than likely a fan.

After Eccleston decided he would try Hollywood again (He was the main bad guy in Gone in 60 Seconds) young David Tennant picked up the role as the tenth incarnation of Dr. Who.  Billie Piper left in 2006 but made a few more appearances but was ultimately replaced by the lovely Freema Agyeman. She was back and forth between Dr. Who and weird spin off Torchwood.

Now, it’s time for the Doctor to regenerate, and a new actor to pick up the sonic screwdriver and keys to the Tardis.  Toronto’s own Space: The Imagination Station is hosting Tennants final episode here.
